Walking carefully along the narrow ledge, or shelf

Dinnertime Buttress and a narrow ledge traverse on Aonach Dubh, Glen Coe – September |

We decided to try a Grade 1 scramble described in a scrambling guidebook. The descriptions were quite sparse, so we were at times unsure of our exact position along the narrow and high ledge we were on. Also, the ground was quite wet, and the ledge was very exposed, so we had to be especially careful not to fall. We did end up using our basic climbing gear at one point for protection on a pitch. It didn’t feel so much like a scramble as a careful walk using hands for support. After getting onto the higher ledge near Ossian’s cave, we decided to go up the short distance to the top of Aonach Dubh, then descend the corrie on the other side of it.
