Walking in Battersea Park after seeing an art show at the gallery, we were walking beside the lake when I suddenly felt surrounded by a variety of sounds from all around me: what sounded like a robin a little bit behind me to the left, a parakeet to the right, a goose forward left in the distance as it flew off, and an aeroplane overhead. Most of these were only heard, not seen – I did see the goose flying away. Also around, visible, were moorhen, coots, herons, swans, magpies, and pigeons.

The Barbara Hepworth sculpture by the lake is now surrounded by a horrible-looking fence, and a prominent makeshift sign indicating that the area is watched by CCTV – a sad state of affairs.

Snowdrops were also seen in Camberwell, and Clapham. Alongside the snowdrops on Clapham Common were lots of purple crocus (croci?), and some daffodils.

On the same day, a couple of parakeets were mating in a high branch of a tree, seen from a window on the fifth floor.
