Arriving again in Torridon, Wester Ross, Scotland – September

The day after we went up Ben Nevis, it was raining from early morning. We did some laundry at the campsite, and then drove off down the Great Glen, through Inverness, and on until we reached Torridon in Wester Ross. In Fort William, we had seen runners preparing for the Ben Nevis race. When we neared Torridon, as we turned off at the juntion at Kinlochewe we hit a cycling event.

It took a long time to drive down that short stretch of road to get to Torridon village, as B stopped to let cyclists by on this single track road, and they kept coming. At least it gave him a chance to look at the views, which he does not normally get to do much of whilst driving. There was a little rain, then it was dry for the evening. Having parked up at the unofficial campsite near the public toilet block (with a shower!), we went for a walk around the shore of Upper Loch Torridon. We cooked and ate well to prepare ourselves for the next day – the plan was to go up Liathach, another important objective on our shortlist.

Further along, we got a great view of Liathach. Still looking a bit scary!
