Looking down Wastwater to Wasdale Head

Arriving in Wasdale, Lake District – April

The day after our walk in Kentmere, we left our friends’ house and drove over to Abbot Hall Art Gallery to see the Lynn Chadwick sculpture exhibition. Having enjoyed this, we drove away from Kendal over to the south-west side of the Lake District to Wasdale, one of the most remote valleys in the area.

Great view of Wasdale Head at the far end of the valley as we reached Wastwater, the deepest lake in England. We stopped for a couple of minutes to take it all in, before continuing to the National Trust campsite, which we found was fairly empty of tents and people.
