As the weather was forecast to be rainy, we took a short walk up to the so-called ‘Bone Caves’ near Inchnadamph in Assynt, Sutherland, Scotland. The bones have been removed, but you can explore the caves and imagine how various people and animals might have made use of them over the ages.

The classic Foinaven range, north-west Sutherland – August
Why is Foinaven a classic? It is quite a distinctive ridge, with a lot of variety, and fantastic views. Its relative remoteness from road traffic gives the place a feeling of being immersed in the hills.
