As the weather was forecast to be rainy, we took a short walk up to the so-called ‘Bone Caves’ near Inchnadamph in Assynt, Sutherland, Scotland. The bones have been removed, but you can explore the caves and imagine how various people and animals might have made use of them over the ages.

A boat trip into the Smoo Cave, Durness – August
We weren’t walking on hills this day, but we did look at hills along the way. The Smoo Cave is in the far north-west of Scotland, in Durness. We took a trip on the dinghy operated by a man who told us about the geology of the caves.
